Use Craft to make a Positive Difference 7-9pm

Do you love sewing, knitting, crochet or other creative crafts? Do you want to protest about injustice but would like an alternative approach to shouting angrily at demonstrations? Would you like to meet others with similar interests for a more thoughtful approach to making a positive difference?

Being in a knitting group that has given me a wonderful group of friends and inspired by Sarah Corbett’s website and reading her book “How to be a Craftivist” I would like to invite you to come along and co-create a North Bristol Craftivist group.

Using largely upcycled and found materials we can send our message to politicians, corporations, business leaders and the media as well as the general public. We can engage with them on a personal level, build relationships and co-create a shared vision of the future for everyone.

No experience is required. Beginners very welcome. Bring your own scissors, scraps of fabric to share, sewing needles and embroidery thread (if you have them). Think about a simple, clear, positive message you would like to send but don’t worry if you can’t think of a message; there will be lots of ideas being shared on the day. The most important is that you come and connect with us in our new group.

7-9pm. This overlaps with our FAB 50+ Disco

so we might sit at the back of the main bar and recruit some members or take ourselves down to the Downstairs Gallery. Ask the bar staff if you can’t find us!
