Funny Women Comedy Night & Workshop

Hugely popular monthly open mic Comedy Night, preceded by a workshop on assertiveness

New Year’s Resolution to try comedy? Come to us for your first time! Meet the growing community of friendly women who are doing comedy in Bristol, find out about the scene both in the city and beyond and learn HOW to do it (if not why!)

This month: IMPROV with Up The Antics!  PLAYTIME: 6.00pm, £5

An absolute beginners’ session for those who want to see what it’s all about but were afraid to ask, who want to see if it will improve their performance skills (it will) or for those who want to see if it still gives them Drama Degree flashbacks! (ahem, Louise Leigh)

The ladies from Up the Antics will be bringing those long-form funnies to you with their usual energy and aplomb.

Giving a taster session on the wonderful world of improv, where worlds can be made and shattered with a one word suggestion.

With 3 Edinburgh fringe shows, performances at the Bristol Improv Theatre, headlining Parent’s basement and regular appearances on BBC Radio, the antics are making a big ‘ole name for themselves.

“Up The Antics are improvising their way to even higher acclaim” ★★★★★ Inter:Mi

EDITING with Funny Women Finalist, Maggy Whitehouse.

What’s the worst rule of writing? The bit that needs to go is always the bit you love best. We’ll be looking at killing your babies, trimming the fat and honing your work so it’s sharp, neat and devastatingly funny.

Later, take to the stage in front of a friendly, supportive audience.

A supportive evening of laughing and learning, in TWO PARTS!

PLAYTIME is a great way to meet like-minded women with a passion for comedy, learn how to generate material through improvised comedy, share scripts, sets, jokes and ideas from comedians currently performing on the circuit, and find support as you take those next steps in the world of comedy.

And finally:

Funny Women knows that comedy can be scary, so this night provides a platform for women to get on stage and perform comedy for the first time. Even if you’re already a regular on the circuit, Time of the Month is a great night to try out new material in front of a warm and supportive audience. And the Alchemy 198 audience is SUPER SUPPORTIVE! Compered by the fabulous Louise Leigh, a local, professional comedian
