Alchemy’s kitchen will now be the base for ‘Eat Me’ cafe. Bristol born cousins May and Rosy began their Plastic Free Catering Company company with the fantastic concept of catering with a conscience – delicious homemade food for events with zero plastic used in the whole process. May is already well known for the launch and success of the delightfully welcoming Monty’s Cafe in Montpelier, where diners enjoyed a completely different eating experience with delicious daily changing menus of wholesome food. The girls are on a mission to reduce plastic waste in the catering industry and are eager to run their own kitchen at Alchemy. As well as being free of single use plastics, the café will only use local suppliers – artisan bread from local favourite Joe’s Bakery and top quality fruit and veg from neighbouring Pawsons. May says “its important to us as an ethical business to support independent local businesses and reduce food miles. We also aim to use seasonal produce where possible”.
Menu items will include amazing brunches, inspired by May’s time as a chef in Australia to include smashed avocado, homemade kale pesto, perfectly poached eggs and lovely local greens. Other offerings will include salads, sformato (a delicious Italian inspired tart), maple smoked tofu, vegan mayo and salad sarnies. There will be delicious cakes to go with the range of teas on offer at Alchemy and bar snacks including jumbo veggie sausage rolls & olives.
Just like Alchemy, Eat Me will compost food waste at their allotment, keep other waste to a minimum, use local produce wherever possible and avoid anything wrapped in plastic. Their motto is, ‘nothing tastes as good as a clean conscience’.
Eat Me can offer catering for parties and events at Alchemy. Email Alchemy 198 for details
